Everything Family Business Edition - Part 2

Only if we let him

Leaving the shop I slam the truck door. I say “let’s go“, a little to loud and squeal my way onto the open road. After a few choice swears and complaining like I’m doing now, my pulse slowly returns to normal. I allow the stress and anger to subside. ”Let’s go do some work.“

Settled down, I drive in a cloud of thoughts. Fighting for justice never ends. The same people who fought against unleaded gas are now fighting masks.Think better thoughts. My boss is a good man, he will help someone in need at a moments notice. It’s mostly friends and family.

He and many others have a difficult time making the jump to considering a much more expansive view of family. We are all family on Mother Earth.

Sometimes a different perspective is needed. I remember last night…
As the hawk is circling low over the late summer garden, the hen is squawking up a storm. She will not go into the hen house.

Sometimes one can’t bring another along on what we perceive is the correct path. Sometimes the bird will listen right away or after a quick pretend escape. Other times you might have to pick her up from her hiding place. Very rarely you might have to let a hen sleep outside overnight.

Nothing you can do will help today. We need the patience and hope that tomorrow will be a better day. Get some sleep and be ready to do your best tomorrow. It is tomorrow, I’m at the job site. I better get something done.
