Solstice

A sonnet

The long night of the north is retreating,
Rejoice, the reborn Sun is returning.
Leaving darkness, brings more solar heating,
Earth’s axis tilt cause seasons, recurring.

Time to light a bonfire for the Yuletide.
Light the Christmas’ candles on the mantle.
Light Kwanzaa’s kinara candle’s with pride.
For Hanukkah, light Menorah candles.

Eat dumplings for Dong Zhi, and light more fires.
Eat pomegranates for Yalda, candles,
At Tropic of Capricorn, Sun, inspires,
Renewal, self reflection, feast, gambles.

Summer solstice south, winter solstice north,
Celebration, the whole world may come forth.
