Morning Frost

A sonnet

Ice covers all that is or was alive.
Clear jagged crystals form on leaves edges.
Green blades of grass, glazed in ice, will revive.
Brilliant rays of sunlight shine through hedges.

The chill consumes and it’s unrelenting.
And still it brings about a knowing smile.
Soon to feel winters firm grip, lamenting
Autumns end, it will only last a while.

The frost quickly thaws, winters grip weakens,
Last few hours of warmth that summer has shared,
Quickly changing, turning of the seasons,
Showing us it is time to be prepared.

Don’t ignore each seasons fleeting splendor.
When it’s time, it will surely surrender.
