Love the sentence, Caroline, and the whole poem. The heat does feel dfferent.

 hanging b…prayed into neat submission, 
they go to the widow’s house once a day to water 
the hanging baskets. This is what has been agreed, 
I am told, and they make damn sure that everyone sees. 
But the garden misses its keeper, and 
the heat feels different this year.
