Encased In Ice

A sonnet

The whole world sometimes feels encased in ice.
We try to move forward, but we stay stuck.
See, but the obscured view is imprecise.
We’ll stay alive, if we have any luck.

Nothing changes, minute after minute.
Second after second, hour after hour.
Day after day, our actions have limit.
Nothing seems to be within our power.

Do I detect a smile behind the ice?
Moving frigid finger then another.
To use a pen to break free, thoughts concise,
To free oneself and then to free others.

Sun comes out and melts the ice away.
Should try to do a bit of good today.
