Each day is good enough

A sonnet

Each day I’m here is good enough for me
For I am here before eternity
For I will do my best for all to see
And if I fall I fail society

This pressure feels as if I’m being shot
Past cannons rim into the deep blue sky
And as I fail to hit the sweetest spot
And climb as high as consciousness can fly

No one can ever say I didn’t try
And not know landing if I’ll stand or fall
I won’t sit down and watch the band march by
Take part in shouting earthlings plaintive call

As I fly past my own resolve to be
Productive member of society
