Bright Day

A sonnet

Its bright and warm and cheerful with the sound
Of beasts of birds of songs that fill the air
The best of times to be alive I found
The sun against my skin and graying hair

What is to come tomorrow or tonight
Will have to wait I’m living now instead
I can’t be turned from love and light to fright
A nature’s cure for existential dread

The animals are just beneath my feet
A chipmunk chasing chipmunk down the trail
To lose yourself in nature what a treat
To see the flash of light on fish’s scale

Enjoy the peace that nature gives to thee
But give to her what you would give to me
