A Push

A sonnet

Who or what do you think you are pushing.
It’s past time to keep your hands to yourself.
I won’t be pushed around. That’s your own thing.
In writing these words, I’m pushing myself.

Push against. Push the money. Push the dope.
Dandelions pushing up through the cracks.
Push forward. Get your hands off me. Push hope.
Push as hard as you can. Push to the max.

Pushing isn’t the best way to change minds.
Pushing your way to the front of the line.
Pushing away collection plate. It shines.
Pushing broken-down pickup truck, It’s fine.

Watch what, and whom, you push. Stop being brash.
Push the wrong person, end up in the trash.
